Glass Solution - Switchable Privacy Glass

Permits snap-of-the-finger-fast electric control of light, energy and privacy through intelligent glass. A technically-advanced emulsion of liquid crystal integrated in a switchable interlayer unleashes the power to change the view from opaque to clear, electrically, in just 1/50th of a second.

Developed through Advanced nanotechnology, offering on-demand privacy, sun control, added security, protection from UV rays, all at the flick of a switch.

For use in the Automotive Industry, Commercial Building Interiors Industry, Commercial Window, Skylight and Curtain wall Industry, Retail Showrooms and Storefronts, and up-scale high-tech homes.

Fork-Alert System

Fork-Alert is a Vehicle Proximity Detection System that utilises our own patented Sweepscan™ technology. Its unique combination of the following features provides many benefits in comparison with alternative vehicle sensor technologies:

  • Wide 10 metre / 32'10" radius detection zone (early triggering).
  • 360° omni directional triggering (detection from any angle).
  • Specific triggering range (accurate and consistent detection zone).
  • Definable detection zone (controlling triggering to the immediate environment).
  • Does not make use of Radio Frequency technology (not subject to interference).
  • Indoor and outdoor functionality (suitable to most environments).
  • Modular design for easy installation (low cost, low impact).

The Fork-Alert system is designed to supplement industry safety procedures and regulations applying to the use of forklifts and other mobile plant. The application of Fork-Alert can be used in-conjunction with pedestrian safety, door activation and general safety and electronics integration processes.

Sharps Container

From customer design drawings, developed an injection moulded scalpel blade removal device that is capable of handling multiple blades and multiple handles. The project included selection and testing of alternative materials (such as ABS, filled and un-filled Nylon, Acrylic, PP and Acetyl), prototyping, extensive die trialing and tool modification, ultra sonic welding, assembly and labelling.

Key features of the new container include:

  • An optimised "rocker blade" remover incorporating a unique metal anvil for superior wear resistance;
  • A complex "finger & ratchet" mechanism to automatically count the number of blades removed;
  • A highly engineered "control gate and hook" system that shuts-off to prevent the insertion of additional handles once a pre-set volume of blades has been stripped

The project was successfully completed in a condensed 12 month time frame in order to meet domestic and export deliveries.

 

Ritract Syringe ®

Designed and developed the product function together with reliable, efficient production manufacture, of an injection moulded plastic retractable safety syringe from a customer’s concept sketch only.

Significant innovation resulted in a patented product that after a single use, the inner barrel and needle retract inside the main barrel of the syringe and are securely locked in place, thus preventing needle stick injury and re-use of the syringe.

Key technical challenges that were overcome in the prototyping stage included:

  • Unique limit catch design preventing premature retraction of the needle during the pre-fill stroke;
  • The engagement of moulded flexible fingers on the barrel that upon the injection stroke, reverses the one-way lock mechanism to allow needle retraction at the same time preventing forward needle movement.

The technology developed by Wickham has been successfully applied across all sizes (ml) of syringes.
